The confidence costs

What is self-doubt quietly costing you?

There's nothing wrong with you, and I'll never treat you as if there were. There are just things in your life and your business that aren't working as well as you'd like them to, and when you don't back yourself, you end up paying for it in one of four ways.

{{ p.title }}

{{ p.body }}

Who I help

I help the curious, the ambitious and the visionaries who doubt themselves, no matter their level of success.

The ones who want to back themselves and live a fully expressed life.

And if you wouldn't call yourself any of those, but you know you're good at something and you've been hiding it, then I'm talking to you as well.

Ways in

Every road leads to becoming alive.

To become alive is to be the fully self-expressed, fulfilled, action-taking version of yourself that you're proud to look at in the mirror, and every way of working with me is built to take you there.

There are three ways to work with me and each one goes deeper than the last.

The Confidence Tour gives you your first real taste of self-trust in action, Back Yourself puts you in a powerful community that hold you to a high standard, and Become Alive is my ELITE one-to-one coaching, for when you're ready to go even further than you have ever gone before.

The free masterclass is a way to get free powerful information that only the rare few will ever take action to change their lives and the majority will be inspired yet not move forward.

Hi, I'm Washington

A pair of Vans. A pair of Air Forces. A choice.

At eighteen I dropped out of college and ran away from home, because I was convinced I was going to be the next Stormzy, and for a while it looked like I might be, playing bar after bar across Southend-on-Sea and building something that felt like a movement.

Then we got called up to Scala in London, which if you don't know is a massive club, and nobody showed up. The weed was getting heavier and my mind was going with it, so I stopped trusting my friends, then my brother, then my own mum, and two years in I snuck back home through the back door she always left open, feeling like I'd betrayed myself more than anyone.

One Sunday afternoon in June 2016 she called me into her bedroom and asked, "Wash, how can I help you help yourself?" Before I could answer, she sent me to fetch two pairs of shoes: the Vans I'd been wearing out on the streets, and the white Air Forces she'd bought me the week before.

She told me my Vans were who I was right now, broken, tattered and possibly beyond repair, and that hit me like a ton of bricks. Then she told me the Air Forces represented something else. She didn't promise me greatness, success or money, just something else.

So I picked up the Air Forces, and I've been walking in that possibility ever since.

Since then

Stop letting your past decide your future.

Something happened once and you decided what it meant about you, and you've been living by that decision ever since, which is how your future ends up running on your past. This is forty-five minutes, free, on how to catch it.

● Who I help

The curious. The ambitious. The visionaries.

Who doubt themselves no matter how well things are going, and who are ready to back themselves. Read through these and notice which one makes you a little uncomfortable, because that's usually the one worth paying attention to.

Confidence Tour dates, the free masterclass and the next Back Yourself intake all go to the waitlist first, and if you'd rather talk to me before you join, send me a message, because I read every one myself.

Stop letting your past decide your future.

You can know exactly what you want and exactly what to do and still hesitate when it counts, and that has very little to do with skill. Somewhere along the way a few of your thoughts stopped being thoughts, and you started living as if they were true.

{{ b.word }}

{{ b.line }}

Self-doubt never feels expensive in the moment, because it feels sensible, and it's only when you add up the conversation you didn't start, the price you didn't raise and the year you spent getting ready that you see what it has really cost you.

This isn't about becoming me.

I've been introduced on stage as the most confident man in the world, which I'm happy to take, but I'm not here to turn you into a copy of me. My work gives you access to whoever you choose to be, whether that's the showman when the room needs one or the calm listener when it doesn't.

Your past happened, and it still doesn't get to run your future.

● The Confidence Tour · live, in person

Switch your confidence on whenever you need it.

You'll walk out knowing exactly what self-doubt has been costing you, with a definition of confidence you can actually use, and with the move you've been putting off already made. It happens in a small room in cities around the UK, with me and people a lot like you.

So what actually is it?

A live workshop that ends with you taking action.

It's called the Confidence Tour because confidence is the word people recognise, but what you're really getting is access to who you want to be whenever the moment asks for it, and that's what I mean by self-trust in action.

The comfort machine

Comfort rarely looks lazy, it usually looks reasonable.

"Let me think about it," "I'll do it when I'm clearer," "now isn't the time." Every one of us lives inside a comfort machine, and getting a bigger house or a newer phone doesn't switch it off, it just means the machine runs you at a higher level.

What surviving costs you

— {{ c }}

Plenty of people survive like this for twenty years, and it isn't a disaster, but it is a waste of someone who could be thriving.

You leave having done the thing, not just thought about it.

● Work with me

Be the person you're proud of.

Confidence is where it starts, Back Yourself is where it sticks, and Become Alive is where you go all the way. People stand up in my rooms and say things they've never told anyone, get coached in front of a room that wants them to win, and walk out holding themselves differently. I've watched marriages get saved in these rooms, and one client earned £20k in the month right after we worked together. If you'd like to feel it first, come to a Confidence Tour day.

● The thinking behind every room

How I work.

This is the thinking behind everything I do, from a Confidence Tour day to Back Yourself to one-to-one in Become Alive. You don't need to read it to work with me, but some people like to know exactly what they're walking into.

Washington hugging a client after a live coaching moment Washington laughing on stage with his arm around a participant

The equation

Who I am
+ how I am me
= what I do.

Most of us were brought up to run it backwards, so what I do plus how well I do it equals who I am. I call that human doing, and it's how you end up with a brilliant CV and a quiet dread every Sunday night. Flip it, and who you are becomes your word and how well you keep it, while how you are you is how you choose to create yourself in any given moment. Yes, the equation is still a work in progress, but it's the best version I've got.

Where it comes from

Academy football, a chess Olympiad and Hedy Lamarr.

Before the music, I played football in the academies at Southend, Colchester, Tottenham and Arsenal, so I learnt young what happens to a person when their whole worth rides on how well they played on Saturday. My mum was playing chess at Olympiad level at sixteen and then rebuilt her entire identity around raising four of us. I watched my best mates' dads, a builder and a Wing Chun teacher, decide they were done working for anyone else and go and build businesses from nothing. Then there's Hedy Lamarr, who the world wanted to keep in a box marked "actress", and who helped invent the technology behind Wi-Fi anyway. Add Brené Brown, Susan Jeffers and years of philosophy and psychology, and that's where my work comes from.

Washington with the Become Alive community, peace signs up

A world of people who've done the work.

This is the kind of community I've spent years building, people who have done the work, transformed, and gone out to shift their families, their communities and their businesses. Back Yourself is where I'm bringing all of them together in one place, so wherever you are on the journey, you'll have a world of people around you who genuinely get it. The long game is a team of trainers running Become Alive rooms right across the UK.
